Needled Wipes
A large proportion of wipes are needled. From floor and surface cleaning to abrasive grinding and polishing media, nonwovens are irreplaceable in the cleaning industry due to their excellent characteristics.
In order to achieve the required mechanical strength, the carded web for wipes and floor cloth is crosslaid and lightly needled. This results in a light, open structure where the isotropy can be improved by using random rollers in the card or a lap drafter. Reusable wipes typically have an area weight of 100 g/m² to 150 g/m² and floor cloth more than 150 g/m² due to the higher work load.
A subsequent treatment by polymer dispersion or thermofusion connects the single fibres and consolidates the structure.
