Two carding and crosslapping stages are necessary to obtain the required regularity. A CV1-A web regulating profile system is mounted at the crosslapper (DLP) to achieve a more regular needlefelt. This results in a reduction of the median area weight and in fibre savings. The web is only lightly preneedled (OD-I P) before it is finish needled in conjunction with a carrier fabric, as a belt in a PMF needleloom. The felts are produced endlessly by adding the preneedled felt continuously to the base. A carriage maintains the belt tension. The needlelooms are normally equipped with an elliptical Hyperpunch drive to reduce stitching markings and needle breakage.
