Natural fibre straw is retted in the field, pressed into rectangular or round bales and subsequently processed in a special Lin Bale Opener. Subsequently a structural breaker is necessary to open any remaining pressed layers.

In the structural breaker non fibre components are separated by passage between rolls and round sharp edges.

Wood parts and fibre are separated by vibration either in a pedal shaker or horizontal shaker.

Further separation and cleaning can be achieved by special components such as a Step Cleaner and Lin Openers with either a feed table or chute feed.
